Many children and adults suffer from stress and anxiety at times. An over busy brain makes it difficult to concentrate on tasks and the feelings associated with anxiety can cause distress and further anxiety. Recent research suggests that activities which focus the mind without being overly taxing can help break the cycle of worry and anxiety and can help calm the busy mind. One such activity is coloring. This resource provides 40 original hand drawn kaleidoscopic images. The repetitive nature of the patterns is intentional, encouraging the individual to settle into a calming routine. Drawings range in complexity, making it a suitable resource for all age groups, including adults. This resource is also suitable for use with Special Educational Needs students. Updated for 2017-18. Children and adults sometimes need a focus at times of stress and anxiety. Concentrating the mind on a straightforward activity such as colouring can have a calming effect and Allow for refocus. This resource might help an individual regain focus. Over 30 original drawings are provided ready for colouring. The drawings vary in complexity. Some are simple outline drawings, whilst others have looser shapes and lines which will require greater creative input. This resource can also be used as an extension activity or simply for fun. Suitable for SEN students, but equally suitable for main stream students.

This resource provides over 30 black and white abstract images. They have been designed to allow colour to be added in a variety of ways. Some students might like to develop “realistic” pictures of actual objects or scenes by thinking carefully about which sections to apply colour to. Other students might want to use the images as a basis for pattern work, or simply apply colour in a random way. Colour can be applied using pencil crayon, felt tip or even paint. If using paint make sure that the images are printed onto appropriately robust paper. This resource is ideal for use as an extension activity towards the end of a main project.
